The music of Belize is as a mix of Creole, Mestizo, Garifuna, and Maya influences

African culture translated into brukdown music in the logging camps very early in the creation of Belize. This was enhanced with the arrival of the Garifuna adding the Punta, Paranda and other rythms from Africa. Today, Belize’s musical base has expanded considerably with the addition of local reggae, Hip Hop, heavy metal, and jazz Artists, fusing well know world genres with our own Belizean flavor.
